Nearly 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the area, generating powerful gusts topping 109km/h.

Substantial Hailstones and Broad Damage

Locals witnessed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.

Tomorrow was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity predicted across various areas of both states.

Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
